Cascom (Castra II)

Cascom is an inhabited planet in the [Castra system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R4jxkAd8El-castra-system), [United Empire of Earth (UEE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth). It was originally [terraformed](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V3qgj8vjnj-terraforming) as a military-only planet in the late 2500s, and operated as a [UEE naval](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDvKOpdP4-uee-navy) base until 2789, when it was opened for civilian settlement. Cascom remained lightly populated until the 2830s, when a successful promotional campaign offering incentives attracted a new influx of immigrants. Its capital, [Sherman](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R4jxLALWgJ-sherman), is home to many retirees brought there by the city's views and low-priced real estate.
