Observing signs that the system was occupied by a technologically advanced civilization, he dispatched a research drone to gather data without disturbing its inhabitants and found a spacefaring people living on [Elysium IV](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VarAXY2zy2-jalan-elysium-iv). Initial diplomatic attempts by the [United Planets of Earth (UPE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0QxBjKP2PN-united-planets-of-earth) first contact team proved unsuccessful.
