Tanys

Tanys is a city located in the Corsti Mountains on [Locke (Idris IV)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RAX8yYv9jm-locke-idris-iv), [United Empire of Earth (UEE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth). Founded as a resort town for climbing enthusiasts, in 2542 Tanys became the center of the resistance movement against the invading [Tevarin](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V8gJv3nB3X-tevarin) called the Greys. When Idris IV was officially recognized by the [UEE Senate](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VaZn8OqaNZ-senate) in 2546, the [Governors Council](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0rqzA55WZ3-uee-governors-council) chose to name the planet after Rachel Locke, leader of the movement. The natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and the city's importance to UEE history have given rise to a thriving tourism industry.
