Ghata Veras

Ghata Veras (2887 - present) is the [Senator](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VaZn8OqaNZ-senate) of [Lo (Corel III)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VarAoYEQYd-lo-corel-iii), [United Empire of Earth (UEE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth). After serving in the [UEE Army](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RxnX5JOZ7Q-uee-army) for fifteen years, Veras earned his [Citizenship](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RLMmop8rkr-citizen) and ran for a seat on the [Governors Council](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0rqzA55WZ3-uee-governors-council) of Lo under a campaign promise to decrease taxes on middle and lower income individuals. He took office in 2920, and while on the Council, joined a committee that successfully pushed through a 3% decrease on income tax planet-wide. In 2941, he was elected as Senator of Lo on the [Centralist](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/01dWmzB3aG-centralist-party) party ticket. Since taking office, he has continued to fight for lower taxes, and has helped craft several consumer-protection laws that decrease the amount of data that can be harvested and sold without notice.
