Born on [Cestulus (Davien II)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0QlKaQ76a5-cestulus-davien-ii) in 2513, Melo's first job was as a political aid, leading to a brief career in campaign management, until he became a political correspondent for the [*United Times/Tribune*](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RAdjeJe5Y7-new-united).
