Because it manufactured a majority of the military ships used by the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth) (UEE) during the [Messer Era](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V8gJ6ZwGqo-messer-era), the company became synonymous with the fascist regime of the time.

After the [fall of the Messers](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/bE3rKa32P7-anti-messer-revolution) in SEY 2792, Aegis Dynamics faced massive public backlash for its role in the regime and lost most of its military contracts, which led to massive layoffs and internal restructuring. Relegated to producing parts, the company avoided bankruptcy when civilian sales spiked after they debuted a civilian model of the [Retaliator](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0qnN6j2Gq7-retaliator) bomber. Today, the company is a major manufacturer of both civilian and military ships.
