Armistead Perry

Armistead Perry was a General of the [United Planets of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0QxBjKP2PN-united-planets-of-earth) (UPE) Navy from 2531 to 2546, and of the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth)(UEE) Navy from 2546 to 2589. She is best known as the architect of the [Perry Line](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V8gJQMY9mO-perry-line). Born into a military family, Perry completed her [Equivalency](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Vgg7YGdQDY-equivalency) at age 16 and was the valedictorian at the UPE Navy Officer Academy and Flight Training Center. She entered the UPE [Navy](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDvKOpdP4-uee-navy) in 2488 as a Lieutenant and was deployed to the [Corel system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R9vQnko7Y2-corel-system), where she patrolled the [Geddon](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/bo1yaaL4wN-geddon-system)-Corel jump point and intercepted smugglers from the [Banu Protectorate](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Vgg795z2a3-banu-protectorate). She quickly rose through the ranks, making Colonel by 2503. In 2531, after losing a leg in a clash with a major smuggling ring, Perry was promoted to General and transferred to the [Kilian system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0ODD4mY9aP-kilian-system) based on her decades of experience along the UPE's borders. She played a key role in establishing a major military presence in the [Yā'mon](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VarxDJ5yLo-yaamon-system) system after its 2531 discovery, and in 2542 proposed the creation of a buffer zone between the the [Xi'an Empire](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0n96JkwNo9-xian-empire) and the UPE to add an extra line of defense to its borders. After months of deliberation, the [Tribunal](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/bZwq5Nr5EL-tribunal) agreed and selected eight planetary systems to create this zone, naming it in honor of General Perry.
